It started with an idea.

As a student, I've always wanted to showcase films on big screens for people to watch. However, when the time came to show a brilliant film that my friends and I were proud of, we couldn't find a place to do it or to network with like-minded individuals in Leeds. So, together with the amazing films at heart volunteers, we collectively decided to create the HEART Film Festival in Headingley, which is 15 minutes from both Leeds Beckett and the University of Leeds.

We offer students and graduates the opportunity to showcase their talents on a BFI-funded screen, enjoy refreshments, and relax with friends and family.

Our first film showcase was in June 2024 and it was a great success. We attracted over 50 like-minded individuals and had 2 and a half hours of great entertainment. There were also awards!
